Due to the multitude of books in my possession, it took a while for me to decide which book I would start with.
I decided on The Oxford Illustrated History of the British Monarchy, by John Cannon and Ralph Griffiths. I chose it, because (1) It's an Oxford book, so it has to be good, and (2) Because it focuses on every monarchal house. Though I'm not going as far back as the book is, it's still nice to have all of that information in one place.
As I read the book and pull out interesting and insightful sections, expect some to appear on here within the week.
Stay tuned!
About
This blog will follow my research of the British monarchy. Starting from the House of Plantagenet, going all the way to the current House of Windsor, I will look at how each House interacted with its people, and with each other.

Books Books Books
The Markham Public Library proved to be a great resource of information about the British throne. Somehow, I managed to check out and take 15 books home. The combined weight almost overwhelmed me, but I managed to get them home.
By this weekend at the latest, I plan to start reading and taking notes on the first book. Title, author, and interesting points are soon to follow, so get excited!

Good Find
While attempting to search for obscure books by authors cited across the internet, it did not even occur to me that a great source of information about past British monarchies could come from the website of the current British monarchy.
Their website,
http://www.royal.gov.uk/HistoryoftheMonarchy/KingsandQueensofEngland/KingsandQueensofEngland.aspx looks as if it will be a great source of information, and a good place to start with some general research on each royal House.

Update
I've decided to broaden my search, going back to when the term "King of England" was first used. This would be in 1154.
So, instead of doing the House of Stuart, and after, I will be doing a few more Royal houses too. This includes the House of Plantagenet, Lancaster, York and Tudor.

Starting At the Beginning (Kind of)
I'll be starting my research with the House of Stuart (Stewart). They started as rulers in Scotland, but subsequently became the ruling family of Britain and Ireland.
